Mymobilesite.net Newsletter, June 2009

By Jorma Hekkanen 2009-06-23

Some time has passed since our previous newsletter and we thought this would be a good time to remind you about couple of issues.

Apologies to our users

We have struggled this year with our SSL certificate renewal even more than before and unfortunately it has caused our users some trouble. New certificates are anyhow installed now. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and promise to try prevent this happening again next year.

Survey ongoing

We have been gathering user feedback in our portal using Net Promoter Score widget. The results so far have been very positive and we are of course pleased about that. If you haven’t participated yet please give us few minutes of your time to do so.

Remote start might save your day and something else too

We would like to remind you about the remote start feature. In the unfortunate situation that your phone got lost somehow, it would be possible for you to start the server if you are not having it always on. Enabling this requires action from you and that’s the reason for we are bringing this up now. You need to define the Internet access point that will be used when starting the server remotely. In addition to this you need to have SIM card in your phone and store and verify the number in the portal as the start command is send using SMS message (See User Guide). When the server is online you can see who has been calling, read the messages or if you are uncertain where it is, use the positioning or web camera to locate it.

Statistics update

The amount of registered users has been increasing steadily during the first half of this year. We have collected information about how many servers have been online during each month. Now we would like to ask you to participate in an experiment. It would be valuable for us to see how many of you have currently Mobile Web Server installed in your device. For that you could help us and start your server at least once during this month so that when it connects to our service we will get the total amount of our current install base.

Share your insight

If you have figured out some interesting ways to use your Mobile Web Server, share it in our public wiki.

Sincerely,
Mobile Web Server team
